ABOUT US

D23-SONN, Inc. is a grassroots neighborhood advocacy 501c4 organization that protects and promotes the health, welfare, safety, and common good in our community.  Our interests include maintaining and creating sound community planning and development policy.  West Nashville neighborhoods, each with a unique character, are worthy of architectural preservation.  Our homes are integrated into, and our owners care for tree canopy within the Highland Rim Forest, which our initiatives promote to preserve.  We are dedicated to working with District 23 neighborhoods to protect our distinctive history, architectural character, and the attributes that provide our sense of place.

Why a 501 (c) (4): Council Member Druffel requested that neighborhood association officers and involved volunteers review the need to more actively participate in promoting our community's common good and general welfare.  Actions in government to remove property protections through zoning reform and the rising call to remove residents' participation in city planning was a call to action.  Our priority is the welfare of our residents. Doing so in a robust way required that we form a 501c4 that would permit SONN to participate and engage in political lobbying, community advocacy, and legal action when necessary.  501c3 associations are charity-based and can not participate in this way.  501c4 contributions are not tax deductible.
